Wellness Day at AHS

Freshman students participated in the 5th Annual Wellness Day this past week, which included vision and hearing screenings. Mrs. Mundy’s Health Occupation Students worked all of the stations with assistance from Sertoma Volunteers for hearing and Rasmussen students for blood pressures for nearly 400 students. Seniors in the Nursing Academy planned, organized and facilitated this outstanding event, with the assistance of AHS School Nurse, Katie Harmon. Chef Wright’s and Mr. Blake’s students also participated in Wellness Day.

9th Grade Wellness Day

A Wellness Day for all ninth graders will be conducted at Anclote High School on Thursday 1/22/15 with the assistance of the HOSA club and Health Occupation Students. A vision and hearing screening will be conducted on all freshmen as well as height, weight and vital signs.  The Health Occupation Students will take the information gathered and instruct the freshmen on BMI/BMR and healthy nutrition. These screenings do not replace your child’s need for regular health care and check ups. If you do not want your child to participate in Wellness Day, please send in a written request for exclusion with your student on the 22nd.

AHS Increases Graduation Rate!

imagesPrior to winter break, the state of Florida released school grades for 2013-14, with Anclote High School earning a C, as determined by the newest grade calculations, which included higher expectations and increased level of rigor. The bar was raised again with these new requirements and we are pleased to announce that AHS earned the same number of raw points as the previous year. We are particularly excited about the growth in the area of Acceleration Performance from 64 to 70. Acceleration Performance includes scores from AP Exams, Dual Enrollment, and Industry Certifications. Anclote High School also increased our graduation rate from 67% to 75% – the second highest increase in the district!
