I would like to thank Student Government for hosting another successful Homecoming Week this year. Congratulations to our 2017 Homecoming Queen and King, Madison Bradley and Lekeidrick Tate and also to our Varsity Sharks for their win over Ridgewood Friday night. Big Shout out to the Class of 2018 Seniors who won the Spirit stick this year. Thank you to all of the students who participated and REPed the Sharks last week.
First quarter report cards will go home with students on Monday, October 23rd.
On Wednesday, October 25, all tenth graders and select Juniors and Freshmen will participate in PSAT Testing.
I would like to invite all of our Seniors and their families to our October Parent Night, Thursday October 26 at 6:00 in the Shark Zone. The topic this month will be Financial Aide and FAFSA.
Finally, a reminder to all Seniors that Senior Fees are due November 30. Students can pay the $100 fee online through our ACORN system. Please check out the link on the school website for easy access.

Homecoming is finally here! Students are encouraged dress up and participate in the parades at lunch each day to earn points for their class. Monday is Holiday, Tuesday is Tie-Dye, Western Wednesday, Sports Thursday and Spirit Day is Friday, along with the Pep Rally.
Wednesday night is Spirit Night where the classes compete in a variety of games at the stadium – a night full of Shark fun!
The Homecoming Dance is Friday from 8:30-11:30 with tickets on sale for $20. Game time Friday is 6:30.
JROTC Raiders will host a meet this Saturday – come check out our Sharks at this terrific event.

The ELA Reading Retake test will be administered Monday and Tuesday this week. Please check posted lists for testing location.
Homecoming is just a week away. Voting for the Homecoming Court will be Monday and Tuesday during lunches. Homecoming dance tickets go on sale Wednesday and are $20. The Loss of Privilege list for first quarter will be posted Monday. Students on LOP may not participate in extra curricular activities and events unless their LOP status has been appealed. Appeal forms are available in Student Services and must be returned by Friday, October 6th.
Congratulations to the Varsity Football team on their 27-10 win over Wesley Chapel Friday Night. The Sharks travel to Zephryhills this Friday to take on the Bulldogs at 7:30.

Progress reports for the first quarter went home with students last Friday. Parents are encouraged to monitor student attendance academic progress in MyStudent on a regular basis. Attendance is a key factor in maintaining high academic performance and is a priority at Anclote High School. Students who have more than 5 unexcused absences in any one period this quarter will be placed on Loss of Privilege. Students on Loss of Privilege may not participate in extra-curricular activities and events. The LOP list for first quarter will be posted on Monday, October 2nd.
I would like to thank everyone who donated to our Anclote Sharks in support of those in need as a result of Hurricane Irma. We collected thousands of snacks and food items to distribute to students, as well as more than $1500 in gift cards and cash donations. The generosity of our community is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to the Varsity Football team on their 35-7 win over the Hudson Cobras Friday Night. The Sharks take on Wesley Chapel this Friday at home with kick-off at 7:30. Friday will also be our first Pep Rally of the year – so be sure to wear your Blue and White!

As students return to school tomorrow following Hurricane Irma, we understand many families are still experiencing power outages and other impacts from the storm. School counselors and the social worker are available to connect families with necessary resources throughout the recovery process.
As a result of recent events, the state of Florida has made adjustments to the state testing windows, which are all reflected on the school calendar. PERT testing is this week, however, the ELA Writing Retakes have been moved to the following week.
Congratulations to Harriet Kittles and Rhonda Weaver, who were selected as parent representatives on the School Advisory Committee. The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 26 at 8:00.

I would like to thank all of our families who were able to join us for Shark Family Night last week as we partner for our students success.
On Monday, students will be participating in a presentation on our new Active Threat Plan in the gym. Students will be viewing a video provided by the school District as well as receiving information from our SRO on the importance of this new safety plan.
Students interested in a parking pass can return completed forms to Mr. Hodges in Student Services. Students must provide proof of successful completion of the Safe Driving course, which is available on Canvas. The parking fee is $30, which can also be paid online through Acorn. Beginning Tuesday, September 5th, all students driving to school must have a current parking pass.
This week in sports the Volleyball team hosts River Ridge Tuesday, while the Sharks Swim team has a meet against the Knights on Wednesday. Thursday, the JV Football team travels to River Ridge and the Golf teams take on Pasco. On Friday, the Varsity Sharks host the Land O Lakes Gators in the season home opener with game time at 7:30.

Shark Family Night is our version of Open House where families can meet the teachers and have a tour of the school. The Title 1 meeting presentation will begin at 5:00 in the gym, where families will find staff from various departments, as well as information on clubs and activities. Voting for parent representatives on the School Advisory Committee will also take place Thursday. Families can then join us for a KC Que BBQ for just $5 before the JV Football game at 7:00. Come out and join us for a fun night with our Shark family!

When arriving on campus tomorrow students are to check the lists posted in each commons area for their first period class, teacher and room number. All students will receive a new schedule on blue colored paper in first period Monday. The schedules received at orientation day were tentative. Changes may have been necessary to assist with the balancing of classes. All students must follow the new blue schedules provided in first period tomorrow.
Grade Level presentations are Thursday and Friday this week where students will review school procedures and expectations. Other important information, including emergency cards will be sent home with students through math classes.
For those families who were not able to pay school fees at orientation day, all students will receive information Monday on how parents can pay fees online through Acorn. Fees are located on the student schedules. Parents are encouraged to log on Monday night to Acorn, where payments can be made by credit card.
In sports this week Volleyball will have open gym Monday and Tuesday with tryouts Wed through Friday. Finally, the Varsity Football team travels to Tarpon on Friday night for the Pre-Season Classic – come out and support our Sharks.

Orientation Day is this Tuesday, August 8th. Students can pick up their schedules and pay fees from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m in addition to receiving school tours. There will be a special area for seniors to pick up schedules and pay fees. Seniors can stop by the Senior Suite to find out everything you need to know about Senior year!
Senior Pictures are Tuesday and Wednesday this week from 8:00-2:00. Be sure to see Ms. Weber on Tuesday for additional information.
As a reminder, Anclote High School will have new student hours this year. Free breakfast for all students will be served in the cafeteria from 8:25-8:45. First period begins at 8:50 so be sure to adjust your alarm clocks accordingly. Student hours are from 8:50 to 3:05.

I would like to welcome our new families as we all look forward to the start of an exciting school year.
We have several events on campus this week so be sure to check out the school calendar on our webpage. On Tuesday, AVID students will be participating in their annual Kick-Off from 9:00-12:00. In addition, our Cambridge students will join together for their very first Kick-Off from 12:30-3:30.
Freshmen sharks, are invited to attend the Freshmen Shindig this Wednesday, August 2nd. This is a great way to get to know the campus, see some familiar faces, and make new friends. The event starts in the Shark Zone at 8:30 and ends at 11:30 with a pizza lunch.
