AHS Career Academies Team Up for Success

Mrs. Mundy

Anclote High School’s Health Academy, led by Mrs. Mundy, hosted a Wellness Day recently. Academy students spent last quarter learning how to take vital signs, height and weight, vision screening and about general wellness. The focus in third quarter has been employability skills. The students wrote a cover letter, filled out applications, created resumes’ and interviewed for the position they wanted. They were excited, engaged and did a GREAT job! Chef Wright’s Culinary Arts students prepared healthy snacks, posters, and recipes. Mr.Tietz’s Digital Design students created flyers for the event. Mr. Blake and his Energy Academy students made an interactive electric light display enjoyed by all participating in the event.

Happy New Year-2014 is Here!

While this last semester will be filled with exciting events such as Prom and Grad Bash, be sure to remain focused on meeting graduation requirements. Enjoy the next few months and maintain high academic performance so you can celebrate with the Class of 2014 at the USF Sundome on June 1st!

9th Grade Health Screenings

Freshmen participated in health screenings through their English classes this past week for vision, hearing and blood pressure. Their height and weight were also recorded. With the help of Sertoma volunteers for hearing screenings, Rasmussen student nurses for blood pressure, and Ms. Theresa Mundy’s Health Science class volunteers, we were able to to successfully screen 319 students. We are currently working to assist students found eligible as a result of the screenings. A big thank you to all involved to make this event such a terrific success!
